Mellon was Michael's (spiceylifes) guide dog. I got to meet him when Mike came to meet me. This dog was the most amazing animal I have ever met and I have met many a guide dog. He was just awesome. We had so many laughs with him when they were here. Today Mellon had to go, he had cancer and the pain was way to much for him. Like a true guide dog he went in the doctors office still in harness. Even though he wasn't my dog that dog touched my heart in a big way. He protected and guided someone who is very important to me and for that I will always be thankful to him. Ya know some people see these dogs as a tool but they are so much more at least he was. He loved michael you can tell he did. I went up to canada one time and we took him to get groomed. That dog nearly took the table out to get to mike when he saw him. Mellon loved his job too, he didn't just get into harness he ran and jumped into harness and looked almost proud to walk by mikes side.
Well I wont babble any longer. I just had to tell about a dog who was the best guide dog I have evr met. I'll miss you mellon, thank you for your hard work and R.I.P

You made me cry. Yes, he should definitely be remembered and honoured, as should all amazing guide and service animals. Please give my sincerest condolences to your friend. Losing a guide dog can be like losing a member of the family. I've never had one but animals have always been close to my heart.

Yeah I think it was his first dog and he was so good with him they really matched them up well. My favorite memory was when I was there and we went dancing. Lol I wouldn't dance cause I'm shy. Then just kidding I said if the dog goes out with us I'll dance haha he did. Mellon stood on his hind legs had one paw on his shoulder and one on mine and we all three slow danced. It was really silly and not what a guide dog is intended for but Mellon didn't even seem to mind. It was great.

Wow, my most Sincere condolences. Losing a guide dog, especially when so special and being a first, is so heart breaking.

All of those beautiful animals over the rainbow bridge, lighting the otherside. *Smile,* warms the heart a little.
